For many, AI has become like WD-40 for the rusty gears of modern life — it gets into every crevice and makes things move faster, smoother, and with less friction. From recommending your next series marathon to managing supply chains across continents, it works in the background, taking no credit and ensuring nothing falters.

The increased shift to AI also has its drawbacks. If your system is flawed, AI will amplify this significantly. Let’s call it “exponential error”. As Heidegger might have warned us, AI is not neutral — it affects our existence as much as we affect it, creating a world where efficiency becomes the new morality and speed is the ultimate virtue. The problem is that in the pursuit of optimization, we run the risk of losing sight of what should actually be optimized.

AI is already flowing like oil through the gears of progress, invisible but indispensable, quietly smoothing out the friction of human limitations and critical thinking at the same time.

AI is the lubricant that keeps the engine of modern civilization running, but perhaps we should ask ourselves:

Where exactly is this vehicle heading?

And what is that smell?

Maybe burnt oil?
