Artificial Intelligence … Quo Vadis?
Just how opaque and, to some extent, dishonest the AI environment is can be seen from the fact that a few months ago, a particular person called loudly for a pause in AI development and has now published an AI himself whose capabilities appear highly suspect. He also believes that regulation in the field of AI is still too early. This is just one example of many. It is a tactic to stay ahead of the game. At the risk of repeating myself, I don’t think that the leading companies and organizations are primarily concerned with the well-being of society. They are mainly concerned with power and control.
All those who are concerned about the well-being of society and are trying to make AI fairer cannot launch large-scale projects and initiatives because they lack the financial resources. The big players, on the other hand, are throwing billions around as if it were toy money. There are already so many great approaches and frameworks for a more equitable design of AI, but they still need to be received or used enough. The Big Techs even sponsor some and, in some cases, publish them, but only serve to clear their conscience.
It looks like we need to hit the wall to understand that AI is much more than technology and that all stakeholders need to be involved and considered.
