Ethical Foundations in the Fog of Tomorrow

We can only see a short distance ahead, but we can see plenty there that needs to be done. ~ Alan M. Turing

Turing’s observation illuminates an urgent and profound task when refracted through the prism of ethics and fairness in AI.

In the burgeoning dawn of artificial intelligence, where the path ahead is uncertain, and the potential for enormous benefits and risks lies hidden in the fog, his words serve as a guiding light. They remind us that despite our limited foresight, the immediate environment is full of ethical issues and opportunities for justice that require our vigilant attention.

This is not just a call to navigate the known but an imperative to lay ethical tracks into the future. We must ensure that we move forward into the unknown with a compass focused on fairness, justice, and the betterment of humanity.

The work to be done is not over the horizon, but right under our fingers, in the code, we write today to create an AI that reflects the best of us, not the worst.
