These are the modern-day Cassandras, their warnings drowned out by the din of the party up front.
Nietzsche might have quipped that we are dancing on the edge of an abyss, intoxicated by our ingenuity. We revel in the power we’ve bestowed upon our silicon creations, but perhaps we’ve forgotten to ask if these new gods are benevolent. As we move forward, it’s worth recalling Socrates’ plea for wisdom over mere knowledge and understanding over superficial thrills.
