The purpose of AI is Insight, not Power

In our quest for power, we often forget the allure of insight. Power is a storm — fleeting and destructive. Insight, on the other hand, is like the gentle growth of a tree whose roots reach ever deeper, providing stability and nourishment for generations to come. It is about expanding our collective consciousness, not tightening our grip on power.

We are at the crossroads between enlightenment and domination. It is important to remember the words of Lord Acton:

“Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.”

If the goal of artificial intelligence shifts from knowledge to power, we risk a future where knowledge is used as a weapon rather than a tool for collective improvement.

Our creations should illuminate the unknown, not conquer it.

*The quote inspired this thought, “The purpose of computing is insight, not numbers.” by Richard Hamming.
